As a high-end townhouse builder, it’s important to us that our team is knowledgeable and highly skilled. We are lucky enough to have a team that is passionate about building, developing, real estate, interior design, and customer service, and are just all round great people!

James George – Director

James George has over 20 years’ experience in the Australian building industry. After a decade running a successful carpentry business, he founded Highlife Homes and progressed steadily from renovations, to new homes, luxury homes, duplexes and then townhouse developments.

Property development has always been James’ passion and goal, with the intention of cultivating a community of property investors and developers across Australia, for unique property opportunities and philanthropic endeavours.

In 2016, James won Rising Star at the 2016 QLD Master Builders Awards. With a focus on hiring people with integrity and an intrinsic desire for excellence, James has been able to continue evolving the company while maintaining client care and first-class workmanship.

James takes excellent care of his clients, and oversees operations of Highlife Homes and his associated companies.

Elyse Hickey – Developments & Finance Manager

After moving from Perth and having previously owned her own marketing agency, Elyse founded Highlife Homes with James George in 2011, and focused on building the Highlife Homes’ brand and overseeing the company’s finances.

Since James and Elyse launched into managing developments, Elyse has been assisting with the management of of these projects.

Then, in 2016, Elyse became a registered real estate agent in QLD & NSW. Through her work selling Highlife Homes’ beautiful townhouses, Elyse has been able to develop a deeper understanding of what the Gold Coast market wants to help clients produce the best possible product, and help homeowners navigate off-the-plan purchasing and get the support they need throughout the build.

Elyse manages the Highlife brand, and assists with the management and sales of residential developments.

Cameron Bird – Project Manager

Cameron found his passion for the construction industry whilst estimating soon after his move from the UK in 2012. He quickly moved onto project coordination and client management. After 6 years in Australia, Cameron travelled the world, partaking in his passions for Latin dancing and teaching, before settling in the Gold Coast.

It was Graeme, Highlife’s construction manager, who first introduced Cameron to Highlife Homes after working with the company for over 2 years. Graeme told Cameron of Highlife Homes’ authenticity, care, and family vibes, and told Highlife of Cameron’s great people skills, intellect, and genuineness; it would be the perfect match.

What Cameron loves most about Highlife Homes and embodies in his own work, is that the team is always trying to find the best benefit for every person involved. “They just have great moral intentions for everyone, in every situation.”

Cameron works in partnership with Highlife Homes’ clients, coordinating the pre-build stages, and acting as their representative throughout the build, always there to support them and the best outcome for the project.

Jason Maitland – Building Designer

Coming from Melbourne, Jason moved to the Gold Coast for the wonderful lifestyle we offer here. After meeting his beautiful wife Simone, Jason settled in Kingscliff and grew to a family of four with his two kids. Jason loves the vibe of Kingscliff, with its laid-back surf culture and great sense of community.  He is an awesome dad (even his coffee mug says so!) and loves to be with his family and his kids, doing activities, playing sport, and spending time at the beach.

Jason has been designing homes since 2010, after studying Building Design and Technology. He has worked for 4 different builders in his career, allowing him to work on a variety of projects differing in size and complexity. As such, he is expertly skilled in his craft and loves the variety of projects on offer with Highlife Homes, allowing him to use his creativity and ingenuity to design some exquisite properties. Jason also loves the Highlife vibe, where everyone is on the same page, working collaboratively in the direction of our goals. “It’s the best place I’ve worked so far. It’s amazing here.”

Jason designs our beautiful Highlife homes, from individual luxury homes, to multiple townhouse projects, in a variety of styles, accommodating all range of requirements, limitations, challenges, and preferences that each project comes with.

Megan Windsor – Interior Designer

Megan has been with Highlife Homes since 2015. With a background in commercial interiors, Megan has worked on both commercial and residential fitouts for the past 12 years, including a clientele such as BHP, Curtin and Edith Cowan Universities, and WA Government department offices. Megan also managed the launch event for several new Japanese products into the Australian market for one of Australia’s leading commercial interiors companies.

At Highlife Homes, Megan works in partnership with clients to source the best finishes possible in order to bring their vision to life. Megan takes the complexity out of the broad range of fixtures, finishes, and inclusions available in the market to get the best result for Highlife Homes’ clients, and all while keeping within their budget.

Megan is every client’s dream, sourcing and coordinating beautiful interior selections, seamlessly managing the development approval process, and providing endless support to her clients during the construction and post-construction phases.

Trish Gan – Estimator

Trish came to Queensland from Mainland China, to study Urban Development. Like all our team at Highlife, Trish is detail oriented, and so she loves the specificity and accuracy of quantity surveying. Trish is multi-passionate when it comes to the construction industry, and loves to know all aspects, integrating everything she learns about the other areas of construction into her estimating, making her an absolute asset to the Highlife team.

For Trish, Australia, and particularly the Gold Coast, represents the people and lifestyle she wants for her future, with a focus on physical activity, the outdoors, and work/life balance. Trish loves to hike the beautiful nature that surrounds us, in Mount Tambourine and Springbrook.

Trish is kind, hard-working, and smart as a whip. She goes above and beyond to make sure her quotes are accurate, all-inclusive, easy to understand, and delivered as fast as possible.

Graeme Bird – Construction Manager

Graeme has over 25 years in the construction industry in both domestic and civil construction.

In the mid-2000s, after living much of his life in the UK, and travelling the world managing civil construction projects, he moved to Adelaide with his wife Alice and first daughter (now three!). Passionate about residential construction, Graeme became Site Supervisor and then Project Manager for a high-end custom home builder in Adelaide, managing projects up to $10m, and winning ‘Best Display Home’ at the Master Builders Awards for a home under his supervision.

Graeme then obtained his own medium rise builder’s licence, undertaking a number of developments in Adelaide before moving to the great lifestyle, climate and culture of the Gold Coast. Graeme was drawn to Highlife Homes ethos and integrity. In his own words, “I read a great quote that says ‘Surround yourself with these 5 people; the inspired, the passionate, the motivated, the grateful, and the open-minded.” I think this perfectly describes the team at Highlife Homes.”

Graeme oversees every Highlife Homes’ build. His commitment to excellence and attention to detail ensures that each and every project is completed to the highest standard.

Melissa Goedhart – Accounts & Purchasing Officer

Melissa has been involved in accounts and business administration her whole working life. She holds a BComm Marketing and Accounting Degree, and is continually looking to upskill. She joined Highlife Homes in early 2019, drawn to the company’s values and the team of genuine, caring and passionate people.

Melissa grew up in South Africa and lived in London for 6 years working for a reputable construction management company. She moved to Australia in 2008 and fell in love with outer Gold Coast lifestyle and natural beauty.

Melissa loves accounts and business, but she is also passionate about making positive differences in her community.  She regularly volunteers for local community initiatives such as providing Christmas Hampers to families in need, and participating in worker bees for community groups. She is also the Treasurer for the P&C at a local school and partners with other charities.

Melissa handles the issuing of purchase orders to trades and suppliers, and diligently manages accounts payable in order to cost control the project budgets.

Franklin Righes – Maintenance Manager

Franklin moved to Australia from Brazil in June 2018, to get to know a new culture and embark on a new adventure. After just one week on Australia shores, he was snapped up by Highlife Homes for his positive attitude, strong morals, and incredible work ethic.

Franklin has a 15 year background in telecommunication infrastructure. He has worked on a number of big data projects back in Brazil as well as England and France. Having also worked in construction during that time, Frank came to Australia open to different study and work opportunities in these areas.

Frank came across Highlife Home on a chance encounter the day after he arrived in the country, when, on a walk, he noticed James outside Highlife Homes’ duplex site in Isle of Capri. James loved Frank’s enthusiasm and character, and although he didn’t have any roles available at the time, offered him a labouring position. Frank has since developed with the company to become their maintenance manager.

Frank manages the Highlife Homes labouring team, ensuring all Highlife Homes construction sites stay safe and organised, and also lends his expertise in the finer details of construction.
